Reps. Tom Dent and Alex Ybarra fight for wildfire prevention funding in House Democrats’ supplemental operating budget
Reps. Tom Dent, R-Moses Lake, and Alex Ybarra, R-Quincey, argue on the House floor for an amendment to the House Democrats' supplemental operating budget that would help prevent wildfires.
The change would have added $53 million to wildfire prevention and preparedness and helped with a 10-year wildland fire protection strategy. It also would have funded a forest action plan to help communities to take action before, during and after wildfires.
After debate, Amendment 1699 was not adopted on a mostly party-line vote, 43 to 51.
